Every year more than 2 billion gallons of sewage runoff flow into Long Island Sound, creating dead zones that can grow up to seven times the size of Manhattan. But thanks to your support, the Sound is on a path to protection — in 2010, at the urging of our staff and members, the Environmental Protection Agency introduced new clean water rules that will curb the pollution.
